San Francisco Pottery Class & Coffee

27.03.22 | Susan Lei | No Comments

I have been wanting to take a pottery class for a long time. I have always loved ceramic arts, but haven’t gotten the chance to try making ceramic pottery. My friend and I were thinking of things we could do in San Francisco, and decided a pottery class would be the perfect thing to do together.

Our general plan was to take the Saturday morning class through SMAart Gallery & Studio, grab a coffee, and get lunch. Otherwise, we just wanted to relax and catch-up with each other’s lives.

THIS POST IS ABOUT TAKING A POTTERY CLASS IN SAN FRANCISCO!

We had two hours to learn and make as many pieces as we could. We were allowed to keep 3. I made a ceramic planter for one of my succulent plants!

So, how did I feel after my first pottery class? It was so much fun, but also very difficult. Patience and learning to pick yourself up after failing is the key to pottery. The two quick hours definitely tested my patience.

The clay we worked with was very soft and easy to work with, which was great. I tried the darker clay that was offered, and it was much more difficult to mold. I think this was a great way to get my “pottery itch” out. I definitely have gained a whole new perspective on pottery making and ceramic arts!

Next… we grabbed Philz Coffee, which was on the same block as where the Pottery class was at! My go-to is the mint mojito iced coffee. I think it’s just the most wonderful drink. It is just so creamy, minty, sweet, and perfect!!

After coffee, we headed to Japantown and grabbed lunch at a shabu shabu restaurant.

And that’s a wrap on this post and my Saturday in San Francisco. Hopefully this post gave you all an idea of things you can do in San Francisco, or how to spend 1 day in San Francisco.

Have fun!
